PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT ON PAYMENT OF SANITATION LEVIES
The Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) wish to inform the general public that with effect from January 2021 all Sanitation Levy payment in the state must be made directly by the taxpayer into Anambra State Government Account. The payment should be made through any commercial bank using the relevant Sanitation Levy code on Paydirect system. All payments must be made using the ANSSID number of the Taxpayer.
Sanitation Levy payment should only be made against electronically issued demand notice. The public is hereby advice not to honour any manually issue demand notice as such demand notices would not have been issued by the State government.
By this notice, collection of Sanitation Levies by Associations, Agents and their representative in the State is now abolished. Associations and Agents are only permitted to serve electronic demand notice duly generated from the State Central Billing System. All payments must be made directly to the State government account through any commercial bank.
Payment of cash to anyone or into any individual account as sanitation levy is totally prohibited. Any taxpayer that makes payment to unauthorized persons, groups or associations does so at his/her own risk. The state government will not be responsible for any payments made to an individual or group of persons outside the prescribed process.
All Taxpayers, Households and businesses in the state are advised to take note of the forgoing and ensure that they follow the correct process to avoid paying to wrong persons.
