AiRS Organizes Intensive Training For PAYE, PIT Staff Officers, Zonal Tax Coordinators and Tax Station Managers”:
The Management of the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service AiRS through the Office of the SSA to Gov Soludo on IGR Technical today Wednesday 5 March, 2025 had a One-Day Intensive Training for All PAYE, PIT Staff Officers, Zonal Tax Coordinators and Tax Station Managers Across The Three Geopolitical Zone in the State. This is in line with the series of innovations brought up by the present management board with a view consistently increasing the State Internally Generated Revenue. The training convened by the Senior Special Assistant to Gov Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR on IGR Technical, Mrs Oyeka Amara Kate FCA FCTI was held at the Training Hall, Revenue House Awka.










Addressing the audience, the Executive Director, Direct Assessment AiRS, Mr Ben Anierobi Okafor FCA ACTI emphasized that tax is always a contemporary issue and has to be evolving. To achieve thus requires periodic training like this in order to ensure effective output. “For us to support and appreciate the good works of the Gov Soludo, we have to improve on our internally generated revenue”, according to him. He therefore thanked the SSA for organizing such an intensive training.

In an opening speech, The Senior Special Assistant to Gov Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR on IGR Technical, Mrs Oyeka Amara Kate FCA FCTI urged the participants to see such trainings like this as an opportunity to grow, adding that impossibility is nothing and no knowledge is a waste. She also cited the Lagos State template for revenue growth and maintained that we can improve on whatever we are doing today by way of challenging ourselves as an agency.
Mrs Oyeka later made an insightful presentation/training on Enumeration Processes for PAYE/PIT, Post Enumeration Template as well as Post Enumeration Work Flow.
Similarly, other Heads of Department followed suit and made separate presentation. The Head, Direct Assessment Dept AiRS, Mrs Juliet Nwakpadolu offered an insightful presentation on everything as it concerns Direct Assessment and the relevant tax laws guiding it. She emphasized the importance of tax administrators engaging in a thorough interview with the prospective taxpayers in order to ascertain how to properly assess them. She talked about the Power to Access a Taxpayer in accordance with section 59 of the Personal Income Tax Act PITA 2011 as amended, Tax Relief/Tax Rate, Target Strategies for Target Actualization amongst others.
Mrs Chika Obiano (Head, PAYE, AiRS) talked about PAYE as acronym for Pay As You Earn. Methods for Collecting PAYE from Employers Salaries Through Deductions at Source by an Employer, Timeline for PAYE, Non-compliance with The Various Provisions of Tax Laws Attracts Penalties, Interest and Imprisonment and PAYE Operational Guidelines were all part her presentation.

In the same vein, Zonal Tax Coordinator, Anambra North, Mrs Ngozi Okoye talked also about Direct Assessment Tax and Outstations Boundary Delineation/Jurisdiction followed by Lady Priscilla Odutche with an important presentation on Revenue Collection Template, Circle of Submission of Revenue Template, Content of the Revenue Template as well as PAYE Monitoring Chart.

At the end of the training, questions were asked by the participants and answers provided accordingly. There was also a mini-test that was set for the participants by the management to ensure that they thoroughly imbibed the relevant tax knowledge that was taught at the training.
