ANAMBRA STATE GOVT HAS EXTENDED THE DEADLINE FOR THE FILING OF ANNUAL RETURNS FOR INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYERS OVER COVID-19

The Anambra State Government has extended the deadline for the filing of annual tax returns for individuals in the state from 31st March to 31St May 2020.

In a statement by the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AiRS), the Chairman/Chief Executive, Dr. David Nzekwu confirmed that His Excellency, the governor of Anambra State, Chief (Sir) Willie Obiano approved the extension to assuage the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on Ndi Anambra.

He also states that AIRS whilst observing the work from home directives of the government has provided self-service portals for Ndi Anambra to assess their services from the comfort of their homes “We implore the taxpayers to access our e-Tax platform via www.airs.an.gov.ng to file their tax returns.

Dr. Nzekwu also confirmed that His Excellency has approved a stimulus package for all Traders and Businessmen in the state. According to him, Traders and Businessmen in the state will receive a payment of 10% of the Personal Income Tax amount that they paid in 2019 as a palliative to help them cushion the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on their business.

The State Revenue Service called on Ndi Anambra to support the efforts of the Anambra State Government by adhering strictly to the COVID-19 safety guidelines as issued by relevant health authorities.

It also advised taxpayers to get further updates on business operations and alternative payment platforms of the service by visiting the website on www.airs.an.gov.ng and its various social media handles.
