AiRS Management Holds Crucial Meeting with All Zonal Tax Heads, All PIT Office Heads and Zonal Tax Cordinators..

In a bid to strengthen the staff quality and effectiveness towards increasing the State revenue, the Anambra State Board of Internal Revenue had another crucial meeting/training with all the *Zonal Tax Stations Heads*, all *Head office PIT Heads*, and *Zonal Tax Coordinators*. The meeting was held at the Training Hall, AiRS Headquarters Awka.

At the meeting, the Senior Special Assistant to Gov Charles Chukwuma Soludo on IGR (Technical), Mrs Oyeka Amara Kate was the first to speak. In her opening remark welcomed all the participants and suggested that she\’ll be having this kind of training routinely atleast once in every quarter. She also suggested that every tax stations must endeavor to have meetings atleast once in every week. Mrs Oyeka used the opportunity to present a new structural changes/template that will aid the tax stations to do their work effectively while promising to volunteer to train the outstations staff every quarter in order to keep them abreast of the new tax developments.

Speaking at the meeting, the Executive Director in charge of Direct Assessment AiRS, *Mr Ben Anierobi Okafor* admonshed the participants to put in more effort in the business of revenue generation in the State. He asked them to be open to what is going on in the system, adding that it brings about passion for the job.

Performance measures were also discussed at the meeting. As a result, the Chairman/Chief Executive, Anambra State Board of Internal Revenue, *Dr Greg Ezeilo FCA* in his remark stated that the AiRS as an agency is currently restructuring and focused while stressing the need for AiRS staff to key into that process. Dr Ezeilo in his words maintained that the \”State Governor, *Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR* is currently working on various roads project and other infrastructural development across the State, adding that it is the revenue that the agency generates that will be used to do all the work for Ndi Anambra, hence fte need for staff co-oporation in order to achieve our revenue target\”. He also maintained that 70% of every tax stations output must be a measure for the monthly performance.

Addressing the participants, the Head, Direct Assessment, AiRS, *Mr. Herbert Ofomata* charged them to always maintain their their area of tax jurisdiction and avoid encroaching on other tax stations in the course of trying to meet their target. He stated that the newly created structure for the outstations will be sent across to them for their perusal and documentation. He also took time to read out all the communities under each tax stations across the three geo-political zones in Anambra State.

The Head, PAYE Dept, AiRS, Mrs Chika Obiano emphasized the need for every tax head to be on top of their tax transactions otherwise they\’ll be pushed out of the system, Hence the need for adequate training and retraining of AiRS staff. Some of the departments represented at the meeting were; Legal Department, Direct Assessment, PAYE Dept, TEET Department amongst others.
