AiRS Organizes Robust Training for Newly Created Desk Officers Posted To Ministries/MDA\’s in Anambra State.

Earlier today Friday 5 April 2024, the management of the *Anambra State Internal Revenue Service AiRS had a robust training program for all the newly created AiRS Help-Desk Officers posted to various Ministries/MDA\’s in the State. These desk officers will serve as ombudsmen between the Ministries they are posted to and the AiRS. This initiative was strategically introduced by the Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR on IGR Technical, Mrs Oyeka Amara Kate FCA, FCTI with a view to increasing the State Internally generated revenue.

Addressing the participants, the SSA on IGR, Mrs Oyeka enjoined them to carry themselves as worthy ambassadors authoritatively representing the AiRS at their various duty posts. She also admonished them to shun all forms of vices and focus on their primary duty of making sure that the taxpayers who visit those Ministries for one transaction or the other are being captured into the State revenue database and pay taxes adequately. Mrs Oyeka personally handled the training on Personal Income Tax; how to properly assess taxpayers with requisite tax calculations provided for them on the system.

Representatives of the AiRS in-house solution provider, Oasis Management Technologies, Mr Nonso Ojukwu and Obi Favour were on ground to practically demonstrate the proper use of the information technologies and the techniques involved in the discharge of their duties, which included: how to properly assess taxpayers, additional assessment, matters of objections and tax computations.

Towards the end of the training, the Chairman/Chief Executive, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service AiRS, Dr Greg Ezeilo FCA ACTI walked in. He also used the opportunity to wish the participants well and advised them to endeavor to be more creative and dynamic in their various duty posts and avoid being static as robots. In his words \”even robots are extremely creative. He also expected that by the end of the month, they will bring fantastic reports that will increase the State IGR.

The newly created desk officers have been designated to start work as the representatives of the AiRS at the various Ministries/MDA\’s which includes; Trade and Commerce, Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Works, Culture and Tourism, Physical Planning, Health and Indigenous Herbal Medicine, Housing, Anambra State Signage Agency ANSAA, Awka Capital Territory Development Agency ACTDA, Ministry of Education amongst others.

The Executive Director in charge of Direct Assessment AiRS, Mr Ben Anierobi Okafor who was unavoidably absent sent his regards and is expected to be around by month end review meeting. Other top AiRS officials present at the training were; *Mr Ejike Ozoemena* (AiRS MDA Desk Officer) who also doubles as the Cordinator of all the newly created Desk Officers, Mr Udeh Chukwuma Edwin (Head, ICT AiRS), Mr Ezechukwu (AiRS Desk Officers, Ministry of Lands).

The training was successfully carried out and the participants gave a positive review of what they learnt and promised to judiciously put them into use which will in turn increase the State IGR. They are expected to resume at their various duty posts by Monday 8 April, 2024.
