Update From The Revenue House:….
On Tuesday 9 April 2024, the Chairman/Chief Executive Anambra State Internal Revenue House AiRS, Dr Greg Ezeilo FCA ACTI conveyed an all important interactive session with all the Market Chairman and Stakeholders across the State. The meeting was held at the Training Hall Revenue House Awka.
The purpose of the meeting was to review the hitherto market Levy payment vis-a-vis other States. Presently, Anambra is the least in terms of the rate presently being paid by the Market users, hence the need for urgent upward review considering the amount of massive infrastructural development going on across the 21 Local Government of the State by Gov. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR
After series of long deliberations and serious engagement with the market leaders. The AiRS Chairman , Dr Ezeilo took time to articulate all the good works currently going on across the State by the State governor with the taxpayers money while emphasizing the need for every Anambrarian to get serious with their tax obligations and compliance in order to support the current administration in their bid to transform Anambra into a livable and prosperous homeland.
The market leaders unequivocally applauded the good works of Gov Chukwuma Soludo and unanimously agreed on a new rate for market Levy payment ; Government Markets will hence forth be paying N30,000.00 (Thirty thousand naira only). annually and Private market N17,500.00 (Seventeenth thousand, five hundred naira only) annually.
Various Market Chairmen spoke and made separate contributions in support of the new rate at the interactive session. The President General, Anambra State Market and Traders Association, ASMATA, Chief Humphrey Anuna (Onwa )also spoke and commended the State governor for all the good works he is delivering for Ndi Anambra and pledged his unalloyed support towards the development of the State.
Present at the meeting were; the Executive Director in charge of Direct Assessment AiRS, Mr Ben Anierobi Okafor, Senior Special Assistant to Gov Chukwuma Soludo on IGR Technical, Mrs Oyeka Amara Kate FCA FCTI, Special Assistant to Gov Soludo on Trade and Commerce, Mr Eloka, PG ASMATA , Chief Humphrey Anuna), Director Commerce (Ministry of Trade and Commerce), Mrs Henrietta, Barr. Barnabas Udemba (represented AiRS Legal Dept), State Coordinator, Market Levy, Mr. Samuel Chike Odoji Mr Onyeka Chukwudi (Head, Non-Tax IGR and Market, AiRS), PA to SPAD Trade and Market, and some other notable ASMATA executives.
