*PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:*
The Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AiRS) has observed with concern the unauthorized collection of revenue from residents and citizens of Anambra State by some unauthorized persons, associations and unions purporting to be acting on behalf of the State.
For clarification, the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service has not authorized any agents, union or associations including Market Unions, Landlord Associations and various trade unions to collect revenues on behalf of the state – including Sanitation Levy, Business Premises and any other levies for that matter.
All taxes, charges and levies must be paid directly to the state government through any commercial bank using the ANSSID number of the taxpayer. Payments should only be made through PayDirect that is available in all commercial banks or online through the AIRS website www.airs.an.gov.ng. Any payments made without the ANSSID number of the taxpayer or outside the approved process does not count.
We wish to once again reiterate that the state government no longer issues manual demand notices. Any persons who receives manual demand notice and honours it or makes payment against it outside the government approved process does so at his or her own risk. The state government may not be held responsible by any individual who willfully pays their taxes, charges or levies outside the government approved process.
The general public is by this notice advised to report any individual that issues a manual demand notice or a manual receipt to them to the Office of the Chairman, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, No 1 Esther Obiakor Avenue, Awka. All reports must be accompanied by evidence of any such manual demand notice issued, proof of any payments made and any manual receipts issued from 1st January 2021.
