AiRS Sensitizes Stakeholders on How to Claim COVID-19 Tax Refund as Approved by Governor Willie Obiano.
The Anambra State Internal Revenue Service AiRS today held a Stakeholders Meeting On How To Claim 10 % Covid-19 Tax Relief as approved by the state Governor Willie Obiano at Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka.
The Stakeholders meeting had the PGs of Communities, Bus Drivers Union, Market Leadership in the state, Civil Society Groups, Members of the Fourth Estate Republic (Media) and others were convened by the Board of Internal Revenue Service (AiRS) to critically educate/sensitize taxpayers in the state on how they can claim 10% tax refund as approved by Governor Willie Obiano.
In his opening remarks, the AiRS Chairman, Dr. David Nzekwu reminded ndi Anambra that the Anambra state government was the first in Nigeria to grant tax relief to keke/shuttle bus riders and 10% tax refund to individuals in the state that pay their personal income taxes. He appreciated the people for paying their taxes and further said that the Governor is judiously making use of the taxpayers monies for the greater good of the state.
The Chairman AiRS, Dr. Nzekwu also too is time to educate taxpayers on some of the recent innovations by the AiRS in order to support taxpayers and Revenue payments in the state. Questions were also entertained from the audience (taxpayers) and clarifications provided by the Chairman.
On his part, the Chairman of Civil society groups in the state, Mr. Chris Azor thanked Governor Willie Obiano for all his laudable projects and policies in the state. He mentioned such projects to include; the ongoing Umueri Airport, the good roads and bridges and appealed to to him to always carry them along so as to ensure transparency in the process.
Others present include; Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Chief Uchenna Okafor (Wiper), Commissioner For Information and Public Enlightenment Cidon Adinuba, President General Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association ASMATA Chief Ikechukwu Ekwegbalu, President General Urban Drivers Welfare Union (UDWAAS) Hon Nnamdi Okafor, State Chairman Parks Management Chief Ibekwe Omodi, amongst others.
At the end of the sensitization, AiRS sourvenirs and some token for transportation were given to the participants. It’s also worthy of note that Covid-19 Regulations were duly observed.
